The Tanzania Annual ICT Conference 2025
Introduction
Digital Transformation can significantly propel Tanzania towards its 2050 goals by enhancing economic growth, improving service delivery, and fostering innovation through digital technologies. These benefits need to be achieved by obseving equity without undermining societal values or ethical foundations.
The Tanzania Development Vison 2050 articulated the ambition to build the 1 Trillion USD economy by 2050. The realization of the Tanzania Development Vison 2050 highes on five key pillars: Integrated Logistics, Science and Technology, Energy, Research and Development (R&D), and Digital Transformation. Digital transformation facilitates the adoption of disruptive technologies that lead to the improvement of service delivery through greater efficiency and operational effectiveness.
According to the Tanzania Development Vison 2050, our aspirations in relation to digital transformation are:
- A digitally savvy society that embraces digital literacy, secure digital practices and emerging technologies which are aligned with ethical principles and societal values.
- A regional hub for technology development that harnesses emerging technologies to drive innovation, promote socio-economic progress, enhance global competitiveness, and ensure ethical and accountable use.
- Nationwide access to reliable and affordable communication services and high-speed internet.
- A robust and integrated system for the management of statistics and information that ensures the availability of accurate, reliable, and timely data, while the nation maintains full sovereignty over the control, storage, and use of such information in accordance with national laws and interests.
- Widespread data commercialisation to maximise economic value, foster new business models and create jobs.
- A leading regional hub for the creation of applications and digital content, actively involving youth to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, catering to local use and export.
- A nation at the forefront of disruptive technology adoption, empowered by a future-ready workforce, driving exponential growth and establishing leadership in an AI-driven global economy.
- A fully digital government delivering exceptional, efficient and inclusive services to all citizens and businesses anytime, anywhere with a commitment to transparency and accessibility.
Realising those aspirations, ICT Commission (ICTC) is organising the 9th Tanzania Annual ICT Conference (TAIC-2025) which will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The venue for TAIC 2025 will be the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) from December 1st to 5th, 2025.
Building upon the successes of previous conferences, TAIC-2025 continues to serve as the premier national and regional platform for ICT professionals, policymakers, academics, innovators, development partners, and the private sector to explore, co-create, and accelerate the digital transformation agenda.
The 2025 theme, “Digital Transformation that Drives Social Impacts and Technological Innovations for a Prosperous, Just, Inclusive and Self-Reliant Nation,” underscores Tanzania’s vision to leverage digital transformation as a driver for equitable development, innovation-led growth, and national self-reliance.
